Dr. Zeid Al-Ghareeb is the Deputy Minister for Localization and Local Content and Circular Carbon Economy at the Ministry
of Energy, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this capacity, he plays a pivotal role in advancing national strategies to enhance
localization, strengthen domestic content, and drive Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision to achieve net-zero emissions by
2060 through the Circular Carbon Economy framework.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Al-Ghareeb spent 17 years at Saudi Aramco, culminating in his position as Head of Reservoir
Management. He has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including a $150,000 prize from the MIT Energy
Initiative (MITEI), the Dr. Mikio Shoji Award for Innovation, the SPE Young Member Service Award, and the Saudi Aramco
Excellence Award.
Dr. Al-Ghareeb holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa, a Master’s degree in
Energy Resources Engineering from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Computational
Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
